Cosultant and Founder of HealthCareBrain
I grew up in the Hohenlohe region and attended school in Öhringen, where I completed my Abitur in 1994. I studied economics at the University of Tübingen and the University of Cologne, earning a degree in business administration (Diplom-Kauffrau) in 2001. In 2001, I briefly worked at Quelle Versand in Switzerland, and from 2002 to 2004, I served as an advisor at the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Baden-Württemberg, located in Stuttgart. During this time, I discovered my passion for healthcare and decided to pursue a doctorate. In 2004, I found my doctoral advisor at the Center for Hospital Management in Münster: Professor Dr. Dr. Wilfried von Eiff. Under his guidance, I was project manager for the areas of human resources management and hospital marketing. This period also saw the publication of my first works. I co-authored the book Professional Human Resources Management: Insights and Best-Practice Recommendations for Leaders in Healthcare and co-edited the anthology Corporate Culture in Hospitals. During this time, I was able to oversee my first project in a university hospital and witnessed the privatization of Gießen-Marburg University Hospital firsthand. At the age of 33, in 2008, I was appointed head of procurement and logistics (including the pharmacy) at the University Hospital Bonn. During this time, I was also active on the board of the EK-UNICO purchasing association. In 2012, I assumed responsibility for human resources as well, implementing service-oriented processes and advancing digitalization efforts. We were tasked with restructuring the university hospital, and in 2015, we succeeded in generating a positive balance for the first time. In November 2015, I was appointed Commercial Director and Member of the Board at the University Hospital Magdeburg. This was an intense period involving change management projects across all areas and extensive interactions with regional government. Since November 2023, I have been self-employed.
